Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF)

Testam Ants Pty Ltd trading as Birdie Conveyancing and Birdie Law are a designated service provider under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 when the professional services being provided are conveyancing services, and other designated services under the legislation. We are have anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing assessment and reporting obligations under this legislation which were significantly enhanced on 1 July 2026.

We are mandated under the legislation to conduct ongoing client identity verification and due diligence. We are also mandated to apply a set of criteria and generate a risk assessment rating on your client profile in respect of the transaction you have engaged us to provide legal services. If the outcome of the risk assessment is your categorisation as a high-risk then we are obliged to make a Suspicious Matter Report to AUSTRAC. If the outcome of the risk assessment is your categorisation as a medium risk then we are required to complete enhanced customer due diligence on you as our client and information collateral to your transaction. We may be required other statutory reports from time to time as required by the legislation.

We do not accept payment in physical currency or digital currency. Notwithstanding this, if in the course of your transaction you deal in physical currency to a value of AUD $10,000 or greater, or digital assets with a value of AUD $10,000 or greater then we are required to report this to AUSTRAC as this would qualify as a reportable threshold transaction.

We request that you review the documents before signing our cost agreement noting the documents will need to be completed in the course of delivering our conveyancing and legal services to you.
